I'm often found staring out of the window here at Bolton FM.

It's not a work avoidance scheme you understand - I am thinking about
work, music and radio - it's the view, and I'm not being sarcastic.

We overlook the site of the Odeon. The Odeon played host to various
musical artists: Engelbert Humperdinck, Gerry and the Pacemakers, Cat
Stevens, Roy Orbison, The Searchers, Dusty Springfield and Freddie and
the Dreamers.  Jimi Hendrix played there as did the late Chuck Berry.
That we're based just across the road from all this music history seems
appropriate.

The clocks have gone forward; the days are getting longer and the
weather is getting better.  All of which means the station's event
calendar is getting busier.  We were at The Big Bolton Expo at the
Bridge Conference Centre on Tuesday, broadcasting  from the event.  Sing
Bolton Sing at the Market Place continues a-pace and on Saturday 8th
April [3] we'll be supporting Bolton Hospice's 'Strictly Learn to Dance'
at the Whites Hotel.

Whether it is local business, local talent or local events Bolton has a
lot to be proud of.

Talking of events, on behalf of Bolton FM I'd like to thank Norma
Rutherford all her help and assistance.  She's been behind many of
Bolton Council's marque events like the Food and Drink Festival, the
annual Christmas Light Switch Ons and the IronmanUK events.  Norma has
been a great help in Bolton FM covering these events and we wish her
well.
