We work with a lot of students each year. We've got our fingers crossed for those who've spent time with us this year and are expecting results.
I didn't get the results I was capable of at school. They weren't the best. I'll admit I worried, a lot. I thought my world had ended. It wasn't a fun place to be.
It was just the beginning of a new journey.
I spent four years at college studying computer science only to end up working in community and neighbourhood projects across the North West for twelve years. In a spare moment I worked out that I'd played a part in helping around 35,000 people in that dozen years. I can look around Bolton town centre and legitimately say 'I had a hand in that'. I even spent a day with MI5.
I also discovered Bolton FM!
My point? The results some get today are not an end in themselves, they mark the ending of one journey and the beginning of another.
Lots of young people will be starting a new journey at school or college in September. September also sees the start of Bolton FM working even more closely with the schools around Bolton with a brand new 'schools project'.
We've teamed up with some of Bolton's education providers to bring the 'World of Radio and Media' to local schools.
The project's aim is to provide media and broadcasting training so young people can get involved in promoting the positive aspects of their communities, using the core skills of numeracy, literacy, IT, teamwork and communication, giving them the confidence to communicate all that matters to them in a fun environment.
And radio is a fun place to be.
Today is A-Level results day; next Thursday is GCE results day
