It just so happens that that someone is Neil, presenter of the Seventies Show and producer of This is Bolton with Kevan Williams (11-1 weekdays).
More often than is healthy Neil wears shorts to the station. I'm not opposed to 'dress down days', shorts - when you've dressed as a hedgehog at work you lose fashion credibility but I feel sorry for Neil's daughter Emma Bolton FM's youngest volunteer.
Emma's not alone though, millions of British parents embarrass their children on a daily basis - due to their lack of fashion sense according to a recent survey.
Socks with sandals, eccentric hats, and wearing leggings on the school run are all big no-no's for the nation's kids. Children also cannot bear to be seen with parents if they are in glaringly bright clothing, top which are too tight or Crocs. Shorts, giant foam clogs and oversized shirts or sweaters are also considered major fashion faux pas. Overall more than four in 10 children are embarrassed by their parents' lack of fashion sense.
I may have inadvertently fanned the flames of a fashion war in the Wilkinson household so by way of apology, happy birthday to Emma who is 10 today, you can join the sartorially challenged Neil for the Seventies Show from 9pm every Sunday.
So you're not caught short don't forget we're also broadcasting 'Local Music Live' on Sundays from 6pm. The show looks at putting unsung talent on the air encouraging and supporting local singers and bands. It' gives us a wider coverage of local music. Our own 'Unsigned Show' that looks to do the same for Bolton bands, if you know any bands looking for airplay do let us know.
Someone's just mentioned "dress down Fridays" in the office.
