Earlier in the year Bolton FM were successful in obtaining funding for a 'World of Radio and Media Project', the project aims to assist not just young people of the town but also those with different needs, either confidence building or assisting in making sure the use of life and core skills are made relevant and easier to all. The project confirms Bolton FM's commitment to training and development.
The 'World of Radio and Media Project' is aimed at providing a unique opportunity to involve both young people and vulnerable adults of the Bolton family to get involved in promoting the positive aspects of our communities, utilising the core skills of Numeracy, Literacy, IT, Teamwork and Communication, without the perceived learning aspect, and give them the confidence to communicate all that matters to them in a fun environment. Ultimately the project promotes social inclusion by the recruitment of volunteers and trainees from the diverse communities of Bolton.
We've successfully delivered similar projects in 2016 and this new project is the evolution and continuation of that good work.
So what is involved in delivering a 'World of Radio' project? Simply using radio as medium to help people gain confidence in numeric, literacy, IT skills, communication and teamwork. Getting people to think about how to develop an hour of radio from a blank piece of paper to composing an interview and using broadcast software.
We're now looking to take the successful work of the last couple of years in to more schools in 2018, it'll be fun!
Happy new year!
We're nearly in to a new year, some of us are in a reflective mood of the year just gone and hopeful for the year to come.
