Fourteen years ago a group of us radio enthusiasts made a compelling application to OFCOM for a community radio station for Bolton.

No one could have foreseen the success it would to be!

In June this year Bolton FM will be celebrating our 10th anniversary of broadcasting and our achievement of winning a Queen's Award for Voluntary Services.

People of all ages, many with learning difficulties and mental health issues, have benefited from Bolton FM's training programmes and being involved in all areas of the station.

Developing skills in broadcasting has helped students break out of their shells, giving confidence through the learning of new skills and being better able to communicate with others, and many have gone on to use these skills to obtain employment.
We developed a schools programme working with Bolton schools to see how many young people we could help.  We worked with both special and mainstream schools and formed a new registered charity-- "The Bolton FM Media Academy".

Bolton FM's academy has already been recognised by the Greater Manchester Mental Health Trust unit as an organisation which is actively addressing the issues of mental health in people and carers in Bolton.

But we want to expand this charity to help even more people, to do that we need your help.

There are several ways you can help.

You could:

Make a donation knowing that small change can help make a big difference

Or you could get involved in our Birthday Bash on 19th July at the Holiday Inn, Bolton either by buying tickets for a great night out; donating prizes for our silent and main auctions or help to sponsor the evening.
