It seems just like yesterday (most of the time!) As one of the 'originals' who have been with the station from the very beginning I think what the station has achieved in a decade has been nothing short of brilliant: 500 volunteers; the impact the station has in Bolton by supporting community events and working with local schools and colleges; and the awards recognising the efforts of everyone involved, the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service being a particular standout.
This past Saturday saw Bolton FM hosting an all-day fun day at Market Place Bolton in aid of Bolton Hospice; hosting a"Dance a Thon" event in Crompton Place Shopping Centre raising money for Great Ormond Street
Hospital Hospice. Saturday evening saw Bolton FM host both Bolton Hospice's Midnight Memories Walk and the Horwich Festival of Racing. Sunday was a little quieter with the station just being at the Horwich Festival of Racing.
A Bolton FM Open Day is your chance to come along and see what goes on behind the scenes at a Radio Station. You'll meet existing volunteers and see how you could contribute to the running of our award winning radio station. We help support a diverse range of charities and groups, this support ranges from on-air promotion to being part of an event like I've mentioned above.
Our next Open Day is Saturday 29th June from midday until 3pm.
We have lots of roles at Bolton FM, so why not come along and see how you can get involved.
Bolton FM was officially launched by the then Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Norman Critchley, on 20th June 2009 at the start of the One Bolton Festival in Victoria Square, ten years ago today.
